VinFast has officially begun operations at its first Indian manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, following a ₹4,000 crore investment made earlier this year.
Vietnamese Carmaker VinFast Begins Local Operations in India
Vietnam-based EV manufacturer VinFast has commenced operations at its first Indian manufacturing plant located in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The company invested ₹4,000 crore in February 2025, and today (August 4), the facility officially rolls out its first car — the VinFast VF7.
VinFast is new in the Indian market, and it is likely to be launched during the festive season. After this, VinFast will also launch the VinFast VF6 compact car for which pre-booking has already started.
Inside VinFast’s Tamil Nadu Manufacturing Facility
The new VinFast manufacturing facility is spread across 400 acres in Thoothukudi at the State Industrial Park Of Tamil Nadu Industrial Promotion Corporation (SIPCOT). It has an annual production capacity of 1.5 lakh units per year and will employ up to 3,500 people to manage the duties
Total investment plan: ₹16,000 crore (to be infused over the next five years).
